Extension Hub - FIND A LOCAL BUILDER

Absolutely brilliant service from Extension Hub! I found my builder through them and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They were super friendly, incredibly helpful, and supportive at every stage of our house renovation. Their advice and recommendations were spot on and made the whole process feel so much less stressful. I felt genuinely looked after from start to finish. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Extension Hub to anyone planning a renovation — they were fantastic!

To aid us during our kitchen mods project our architects, JAB Design (highly recommended - thorough, knowledgeable and pleasant to work with) suggested using the Extension Hub platform to review, choose and communicate with prospective builders. So we gave it a try, and soon realised it was going to be a lot more useful and practical than the likes of Checkatrade and Trustatrader. The site itself was well laid out and easy to use, and acted as a sort of "neutral territory" for all sides: it was a repository for all our plans, structural calculations, etc; and acted as an arbiter whenever we needed to submit deposit payments and such. It quickly proved its worth by helping us save us time and money - not only were we able to short-list prospective builders quite quickly, but those we did arrange to see had already downloaded and assessed our plans and so came prepared to answer any queries we had, offer suggestions and clarify any loose ends. At the start of our project we were also able to use the Hub to access tree surveyors, drain inspectors, etc.; and later on we used it to aid in sourcing our kitchen cabinets (from Wren - again, Highly Recommended. Thumbs up to our designer Neil!). I'm pleased to say that the back office support for the Hub was excellent also; the few site issues we had were quickly resolved (usually just me being a bit dense), and they were always ready to chase up builders quotes, etc., on our behalf (many thanks, Caroline!). Like most home owners we were very anxious about carrying out any major work on our property, but it's fair to say that the Hub made kicking off the process quite painless. The builder we eventually chose was West Midlands Construction, headed up by Josh Robinson. What else can I say but - Flawless. Easy to work with, always professional but still human, extremely patient and tolerant (!!), and importantly good value. Our project was really quite a small one for Josh and his amazing team (craftsmen all), but they never treated it as such. They always turned up promptly, worked quickly (but never slapdash), were invariably nice and chatty (especially over a cuppa and a biscuit), and cleaned up as they went along. For Josh nothing was too much trouble, and he immediately grasped (and helped to refine) our vision for our kitchen. As a sign of our confidence in WMC and their workmanship we've had no hesitation in recommending them to some of our friends, and have put some more of our own jobs their way also.

Helped me find some top notch guys to sort my new extensions finished right before Christmas! We are so happy with it and the guys that sorted it were absolutely lovely (drank a lot of tea though). Seriously the communication and efforts Extension Hub has was way more than I’d expect. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Jayden and his team at the extension hub in Sutton Coldfield have been a huge help in taking care of my extension project, from managing the contractors and design team to sourcing materials I couldn’t find myself. I couldn’t have done it with out them. I highly recommend these guys

Extension Hub have been absolutely fantastic to work with. From the very beginning, they’ve shown genuine care and a real understanding of their clients’ needs and requirements. Their communication, professionalism, and support have made the whole experience a pleasure. It’s been great working alongside such a dedicated team, and we can’t wait to see what 2026 brings for us both!

Initial support when looking to procure a builder was fine, however, when we had a dispute with the builder (Renov8) they recommended, little was done to support resolving. Apparently it’s acceptable to still promote and partner with a builder who has left our garden like this (yes - this was the new patio laid by the builders) - amongst the countless other issues and snags we’ve encountered. EDIT: In response to Extension Hub’s reply below - photos attached with email from Extension Hub advising the builder was refusing to come back onsite to complete the full and agreed scope of work, including the patio. Apparently it’s acceptable to offer a resolution where the builder picks and chooses what tasks to complete and snags to resolve as opposed to honouring the full scope of work. I have been very light in my original post. Maybe we should ask Howdens Lichfield to comment on their experience when dealing with the builder for the full sequence of events as you say. As I said in my original post - yet you feel it’s appropriate to still promote and partner with them.

Renov8 We couldn’t be happier with our home. The whole experience has been fantastic. Our double storey extension has been completed with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Truly outstanding workers. Communication was clear, honest and reliable throughout, and the team were skilled, polite and a pleasure to have around.
