David and his team have just completed a thorough ground floor renovation and redesign for us. Including moving the kitchen from the front to back of the house, inserting numerous steels, removal of walls, splitting of rooms and removal of a bathroom. I cannot express how pleased we are with the result. Having had an initial nervousness about the scale of the project, we are so glad we went with David, instantly he put us at ease. Attention to detail, communication, advice, guidance, workmanship were excellent throughout the build. A special shout out to Bob, whose professionalism shone through. Trust is a hard thing to build but David and team built that quickly and maintained it throughout. I’d have no hesitation in using Smart Build again. I cannot recommend them highly enough and would gladly speak to anyone considering using SmartBuild for their project. We are absolutely delighted with our new two-storey local stone-built extension, by David and his team at Smartbuild. David and his team undertook a full renovation project and extension of our house in 2024 and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Our whole experience on the project was excellent. The communication with David and his team throughout the project was good. He kept us informed every step of the way, making sure we were aware of upcoming decisions, at each stage of the renovation. David and his team, worked with us to develop our extension project. The attention to detail from working with budgets, project management through to completion were exceptional. We have been beyond delighted with the new space and the added value that's brought to us, day to day.

David and his team extended and renovated our house in 2021. Our project was a kitchen extension and downstairs remodel, back garden groundwork’s prep for a garden room and also upstairs remodel and renovation. Pretty much every room in the house has changed, and we are really happy with the results and quality of the craftsmanship and care given to the work. In particular, Andy and Glenn, who did the ground works, bricklaying and patio for the extension were brilliant working in pretty harsh conditions in Jan 2021. Overall the project took 6 months end to end and David kept communication up at all times, keeping us abreast with any issues and gave a very accurate build schedule that went very close to plan, even with the global supply issues that began that year. We highly recommend his services, and would use his services again for future work.

We knew this company had an excellent reputation so we were delighted when David said they could transform a breeze block retaining wall on our front drive with local ironstone and new footings. We absolutely love the finished look, and Glen and Andy were outstanding as a team - so helpful and professional from start to finish - plus a lot of fun. They clearly enjoy and take a lot of pride in their work, as do the whole Smart Build team. We highly recommend them.

We would recommend David and team without hesitation. The building work has been carried out with great care and professionalism. Whilst we had a fair idea of what we wanted from the build, the team were great at making suggestions which were respectful to the character and heritage of the original building. Particular thanks must go to our two core builders who were knowledgeable, highly skilled and good humoured. The build involved some internal reworking as well as a stone and slate extension. The match between the original and new elements is truly excellent, with detailing that is sympathetic to the building's former use as a stable block. We do not anticipate any snags in the coming months but feel that David would be on hand to address these, such is his evident pride in his work.
