Builder Cambridge

Builder Cambridge completed a number of building, plumbing, and electrical works for a flat renovation I had done. I will note that whilst the original quote and first payment was made to Builder Cambridge, building work was conducted by, and subsequent payments were made to, Herts and Cambs Building Services. Electrics were subcontracted out to DLK Electrical and paid through Herts and Cambs. Ryan, Titch, and team (from Herts and Cambs) did a great job. Hard working and speedy, they stripped the place back to the core, put in a new screed floor, new stud walls, fully insulated the roof cavity, and reboarding / plastered the whole flat as well as putting in the shower / toilet. Prices were fair and the work very high quality. The team were very approachable and happy to help with little odd jobs that came up and weren't in the original spec. They also dealt with the flat being top floor with no lift, which was not an easy feat. Electrics were also top notch by DLK. Similarly plumbing all very good bar one aggrevation in that pipes to the hot water tank that were meant to come up through the floor directly into a stud wall actually came up slightly outside the wall line meaning that kitchen cabinets had to be brought 10cm off the wall to accommodate. Only other minor gripe is that I originally chose Builder Cambridge as I wanted a one stop shop - ie. one point of contact. Instead I ended up communicating with the building team, plumber, and electricians separately, none of whom were directly with Builder Cambridge. I'd have appreciated if this had been presented more transparently up front by Builder Cambridge, but it wasn't a major issue and all the individuals involved were professional. Overall very happy with the workmanship and the final product. Would recommend to others.

COWBOY BUILDERS! Stay Away! Once I entered into an agreement with them, they also brought into the job another company called "Complete Bricks Ltd.". Never met any deadline, caused 50K worth of damages to my property (valued by an independent surveyor, copy can be provided upon request) and sent me an invoice for "extras", completely invented, which they used to hold me to ransom and to have an excuse never to return to finish the job. They used materials from their van and left overs from other jobs: roof battens from another job insetad of the timber they charged for, window packers instead of adjustable pedestals, they used expanding foam instead of professional glue. They never properly sealed the rubber roof leading to leaks all over my property damaging walls and frames. After 5 months, they were not even able to install a new laminated floor in a small room and I had to bring in FloorStore to repair the mess done by Builder Cambridge. Absolute botched jobs. You can see it in the pictures. I am now taking them to Court to try to recover my losses and repair the damages they caused to my property. Contact me for further details.

A friendly team who were approachable throughout the build. The team worked hard both when the property was empty and when we were living on site. Where outside expertise were needed they recommended / worked with great firms. We did have a few issues, including the final bill being repeatedly miscalculated, however, where we had issues everyone was happy to enter into a discussion and reach a resolution.

We had the most awful experience with Builder Cambridge. They did not finish the job, what was done was completed to an extremely poor standard. 50% of the work had to be redone. Basic failures were made in almost every area. Examples include floorboards laid which were not kiln-dried wood (so suffered very significant shrinking). 1/3 area was not insulated per the scope. Radiators connected with ebb and flow in the wrong direction. Shelves put up which (when removed) were discovered to have been held straight through scraps of torn up cardboard. The electrical works have not been certified to this day. The list goes on... No refund was offered (although I understand George represented to his former partners that it had been) and he was rude and aggressive despite the very significant failures and costs caused.

George and the team provide truly exceptional service at a great price. They take anything in their stride, solving problems with sensible and knowledgeable advice that puts the customer first. Excellent communication throughout, great flexibility and pace. Costs are competitive and outstanding value considering their professionalism and high-quality work. Most importantly, they build trust through integrity and I certainly won't be using anyone else from now on.

George and the team were great. We needed our front steps removed and replacing. George listened to what we wanted, the team were professional and tidy. Our new steps match the house and look fantastic, very happy and would use again!

I am interested in buying a property and I have few ideas in mind. I had some calls with different builders, but George has been definitely the more helpful. He gave me a rough estimation about the prices for the different options. Really kind and professional. Thanks.
