The Conversion Kings

A big thank you to Lory, Jeff and Jake as the main team for completing our internal garage conversion to a habitable room. From the initial quote to completion, everything was finished on time and to cost. Everything was transparent with even a list of optional extras to choose from. We went for a vinyl click flooring as per the photo, which they fitted expertly, that we couldn't have replicated between ourselves!! Lory kept us updated regularly with the planned stages, and organised all the other trades/visits such as sparky, plasterers, building progress inspections etc and they all turned up on time as promised. Jeff and Jake had great work ethics, starting before 8am and finishing each stage they needed too each day. Very friendly and professional, and tidying up at the end of each day. We're very pleased with the final outcome and think the new room looks great.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Lory and his team, they have done a fantastic job converting part of my garage into an office. The communication was excellent, they arrived when the said they would and they left things in a tidy state.

Lory & his team completed an extension for us to add an extra bedroom/office space and to double the size of our kitchen/diner and removal of our old conservatory. We are so happy with the final result. All the way through Lory's Communication was fantastic. The team were all very friendly, professional and hard working. Lory's support and guidance was top notch, he got us in touch with the architect, Helped us source and fit our new kitchen, gave us communication between the sparky and plumber, and happy to help with anything we needed. This was really helpful for someone who has never done anything like this before. Jeff's skillset and knowledge was fantastic and Jake has such a great work ethic. The final price was no more than quoted. What more can you ask for. Massive thankyou to the whole team at Conversion Kings. Will highly recommend and would use again in the future. Lory and the team carried out a dormer loft conversion for us and we're incredibly happy with the finished build (new bedroom and bathroom). Lory put in touch with an architect and structural engineer in the run-up, both of which did a great job and were reasonably priced, and the Conversion Kings carried out the build. The communication was great and we chatted through lots of decisions as they came up rather than being dictated to, and lots of Lory's suggestions are the elements we're actually most happy with and things we wouldn't have thought of ourselves. Jeff and Jake were great and easy to work with alongside Lory, and the team were on-site every day cracking on. The project management side was also very smooth - Lory sorted all this and meant we didn't have to wait weeks for plasterers/plumbers to come in. The build took roughly what was quoted in terms of the timeline, and the final price was what was quoted too, aside from a couple of unavoidable extras we knew about that were nothing to do with the loft itself. We're really happy with our new space and would definitely recommend The Conversion Kings.

We've given a rating of 2* based on the following. Timeframes were stretched way beyond agreed program of works. We hired the team on a pay your deposit/first come first served agreement. In their own admission, they took on too much work during 2023. Communication was good during the project. Jeff made a good job of assembling the staircase, and is clearly a good carpenter. Steve was an excellent addition to their team. The roofer did a good job too. The negatives are generally associated with a few of the sub contractors, and made worse by Lory's response to corrective work required. The main area of concern was the shower room. During the build we had a flood issue as the shower wasn't tested and leaked when the central heating engineer tested his work. This required a hole being punched in a new wall to access the shower and make good. Unfortunately the plumber still didn't notice at that point that he'd fitted the shower unit upside down with the hot and cold feeds incorrectly fitted. When we moved into the property, we realised we had a shower that was dangerous and liable to scald, as normal adjustments had the reverse effect. We called an emergency plumber to help. He informed us of the incorrect fitting. He also noticed the shower tray rocked and wasn't seated correctly. The sealant was too thin, and the rocking had pulled it away allowing water to penetrate inside the wall. He also noticed a few cracks in some tiles. Lory's response to our plumbers report took us by surprise, it wasn't customer friendly. Totally out of character from all previous communications! We had paid in full before these issue were identified, and received no compensation for the corrective costs we incurred. There was an area of felt removed behind the ashlar wall where the new roof timbers were brought into the loft. It was disappointing we noticed this wasn't made good, and you could see the tiles and daylight from inside the loft. The gutters on the extension and pumphouse don't drain correctly, and puddle after rain. Photos of all issues at every stage have been taken. There were other snagging issues identified before full payment was made, these were corrected with no issue. It's unfortunate to write a negative review. We did consider taking legal steps after receiving Lorys last email, but decided as a good will gesture to the team in general, and the positive attributes along the build, we'd park the complaint at this point. We reserve the right to change this viewpoint if circumstances change. Disappointing. Update. There has been some significant movement of the structure. Doors not opening and requiring forced entry. Surveyor has assessed and some remedial works required. Based on this development we have reduced the rating from 2.5 to 1.

Lory and the friendly, professional team converted a huge loft, making it into a great space. They were able to take the project on in amazingly fast time, arriving early on the first morning and working through to get it completed really efficiently. I had asked for some bespoke features and these were achieved brilliantly, with Lory checking with me that I was happy with the solutions proposed. I was working to a tight budget and the Conversion Kings made sure that I could have the full list of everything I wanted within this budget - really supportive. It was also really refreshing to see that they took great care to protect carpets and walls as they worked, and did an amazing job of cleaning up at the end. I will absolutely know who to call in future for any projects.
