MJH Builders carried out a substantial renovation project at my property, including structural alterations, reconfiguring the downstairs layout, installing a new kitchen, creating an ensuite to the master bedroom, and refurbishing the main bathroom and downstairs WC. Matt and his team were reliable, hardworking and professional throughout the project. They were polite, maintained good communication during the works, and Matt was always approachable and willing to discuss any questions or decisions that arose as the project progressed. The project involved a significant transformation of the property, and I appreciated the team's efforts in delivering the agreed scope of work. The work has transformed our home, and I would use MJH Builders again for future projects.

Matt and his family team are exceptional. We had a two storey extension built to gain a garage and he was true to his word on timing of quote and build start. The workmanship is top quality and the sub-contractors he has to use for parts are equally as detailed and Matt co-ordineates the lot. We had a few tree protection issues due to our location and these were dealt with in his stride due to his contacts which alleviated a lot of stress for us. When we wanted additional things he was open and honest about extra costs so there weren't any surprises at the end. We would totally recommend Matt and the team as they are total professionals and a pleasure to have around during the work period.

Matt and the MJH gang have been wonderful. We had a two storey side/rear extension. Right from the first visit recommending an architect and helping with ideas for the design. Considerate, hard-working, communicative and with great attention to detail they were also always approachable and friendly. We had a very complex roof to install which they managed easily. The quality of the build, products and workmanship has been excellent. Managed to stay on target with the schedule despite an entire week of rain. When an issue arose (outside their control) they came with solutions not just the problem and any question we had Matt answered, it’s clear how experienced he is and the pride he takes in his work is next level. Project started: October 2020 (major extension works) Returned October 2021 for phase 2 (kitchen). Returned March 2025 phase 3 (side extension and driveway) We were initially skeptical about taking on such a big project — our first major building work — with limited knowledge of the industry. Our architect, J Design, recommended Matt, and from the first contact he was responsive, personable, and willing to work with us on both budget and vision. He immediately put us at ease, and we could relate to his way of working and his values. For context: Matt completed a major extension for us, starting work amidst the lockdowns. At the time, we were living in the property, I was working from home with a toddler, and seven months pregnant. The project included significant works to our bungalow — a new roof and a full second storey. Matt and his team were brilliant. They arrived every day, on the dot at 7:30 a.m. — it may sound simple, but that reliability made all the difference. Matt is good for his word, fully committed, and gets the job done. What was achieved, in exactly the timescale agreed, was incredible. There were no down days. Everyone who’s since seen our home — or compared timelines to their own projects — comments on this. Despite us living in the property throughout, Matt and his team never made us feel like we were in the way. They were respectful, professional, and fantastic with my young son. They always checked that we had electricity and water back on every evening, and the whole team was committed to meet deadlines pre due date of being water tight and having a boiler and bathroom. When our baby came three weeks early, they pulled it out of the bag and still got it done! During the lockdowns, Matt and his team truly became part of our family. Having a baby during the build, and at a time when no one else could visit, was strange - they were the only people who met our baby! This could have been a stressful experience, but it never felt like that. There aren’t many people you’d feel comfortable having in your home during this time. As with any project, there were scope changes and a few unexpected challenges, all of which were handled quickly, calmly, and at a fair price. One issue even arose while we were on holiday, just before a key floor fitting deadline before Christmas. Matt managed to source a steel at the last minute, coordinated everything, and kept us updated throughout — he made it work and delivered. Matt has never let us down. He’s reliable, trustworthy, and genuinely cares about the work he does and the people he works for. We have never had an issue with the quality of the works. Anything unexpected that camHe’s an expert in his trade — able to turn his hand to anything — and his project management and forward planning are second to none. He’s always thinking ahead, coordinating trades, materials, and deliveries so that work moves smoothly and quickly. Since our main build, we’ve used Matt again for several further projects — kitchen and bifold door fitting, a side extension, and a driveway — which says everything about our confidence in him. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone. Matt, his family team, and recently his son Toby, have also had a lasting impact on our now 4 year old son who has grown up with the project. They have always been so kind and patient with him — he’d sit for hours watching them work through the window or watch on a chair in the garden and chatting away. Having builders in your home, especially with a young family, can be daunting — but we needn’t have worried. This is what makes Matt different.

Matt and the team refurbished 2 bathrooms and decorated multiple other areas. First of all, they are a lovely family firm, with a drive to maintain their excellent reputation.
